Discuss.

Whatever your story, whatever your project it’s crucial to discuss what we are all going to achieve. At the heart of any film is the basic idea and angle of the narrative, but most importantly, it is vital to know exactly who the audience is. So plenty of work-shopping takes place before we go ahead. Every film is bespoke so no two are the same.

Shoot.

Shooting is most often carried out on location. However sometimes we resort to a studio or even record using high-quality remote platforms. Our shooting ratio tends to be 60:1 - so for every hour of footage filmed only one minute will end up in the final production. However, before we even pack a camera case, project planning and scheduling is carried out.

Edit.

We always say that the post production stage is perhaps the most important. It’s where the story really takes shape. Graphics, music and sound effects are added and the film is crafted like a sculpture; chipping away until it shines. Clients are encouraged to watch the first cut as soon as it’s ready and comment. Feedback is then applied before presenting the final film.

Deliver.

Delivery really means uploading. The master film is encoded ready for Vimeo, YouTube or internal Intranet. After any music copyright clearances have been checked and all the team are happy with the final film, it’s uploaded. We work across all formats so the final film will play to its audience exactly how and where it’s needed. Now it’s time to enjoy!

Italy in 15 seconds

TourRadar, an online travel group, wanted a 15 second social media clip to promote a series of films we made in partnership with them called ‘Tour the World’. Trouble was, all the footage was shot in the rain. Have a look.

Trailers and very short social media clips are a direct way to get your audience buzzing and we love the challenge of producing them.

Sharing Contemporary Kazakh Literature

Some years ago, Cambridge University Press began its partnership with the National Bureau of Translations to shape the literary future of Kazakhstan, by publishing two new translations of Contemporary Kazakh Poetry and Prose books. This is a trailer for the main film ‘Flying The Nest’, which followed the project. You can see the full length film on our Vimeo or YouTube sites.

Music Connects

Music Connects follows the teenage students of Mitrovica Rock School, a project of Musicians Without Borders in the ethnically divided town of Mitrovica, in Kosovo. The Rock School is one of the few places in town where youth can meet people from the other community. Over time, they get to know each other and form bands. We produced a 55-minute documentary and seven supporting trailers about the Initiative.

Music Connects partners: Musicians Without Borders (musicianswithoutborders.org) Fontys Rockacademie (fontys.nl/rockacademie) Mitrovica Rock School (mitrovicarockschool.org) Music School Enterprise (enterprise.com.mk/) Roma Rock School (romarockschool.org) Music Connects is a project supported by Creative Twinning, an initiative of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, implemented by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RvO)

Team in Manila

Due to travel restrictions we asked some employees in Manila to film each other. We added some library shots and made it into a ‘meet the team’ video. We have also made films with interviews filmed remotely using Zoom or Skype. So this clip is really an example of what can be achieved with very little budget. It’s all about the editing…

Wilson’s School

Working in partnership with Suffolk Films, we produced a short series of online films for Wilson’s School. In fact together we have now made films for over forty schools in the UK. Most of them are mini documentaries, which pick up the spirit of each school. So every film is different.

There are numerous examples of other school films that we’ve completed on our Vimeo or YouTube sites.
